Oniria - Canet en Roussillon
In 2024, the Oniria aquarium in Canet-en-Roussillon installed a drainage system to supply seawater to its tanks and meet the building's heating and cooling needs.
Previously, the Oniria aquarium used a seawater intake at the entrance of the marina, which was often hindered by biofouling, leading to clogged strainers. To address this issue, the SPL SILLAGE decided to change its seawater intake and turned to the ECOPLAGE process.
From January to March 2024, ECOPLAGE installed a 300-meter linear dewatering system under the beach to provide naturally filtered seawater to the Oniria aquarium. This clear, high-quality water now supplies both the aquarium's tanks and the heat pump system.
System Installation details :
- Two bundles of drains totaling 300 meters
- One collection well
- Adaptation of the existing pumping station to the dewatering system
- Current seawater requirement: 70 m³/h
- Drains can provide up to 115 m³/h in case of increased seawater needs
- 200 kW heat pump
